The leaves are changing, and they are falling, as is the temperatures. When I was younger I despised change! I mean despised it. I say younger, but actually until I was 19, when our Granny passed. There was a song that spoke to me so much. I never told anyone about it, but loved it....because it was Granny and I. I realized that I never said Goodbye to anyone until the day before she died, the day I last saw my Granny in her earthly body. I can't WAIT to see her in her heavenly one! Amen! As I stated before, I never told anyone about it, but I think everyone felt the same...we ALL loved our Granny so much. So much so that the song was played at her funeral...to my surprise. I fell apart....it was something I will never forget. No matter what happens, I am proud of our family....Granny taught us well....we love freely and no one is a stranger....they are family. God spoke to us all when Granny passed, and he still does, we just have to listen.
God Blesses!
How Can I Help you Say Goodbye
By Patty Loveless
Through the back window of our '59 wagon
I watched my best friend Jamie slipping further away
I kept on waving till I couldn't see her
And through my tears I asked again why we couldn't stay
Mama whispered softly, time will ease your pain
Life's about changing, nothing ever stays the same
And she said, how can I help you to say goodbye
It's okay to hurt, and it's okay to cry
Come let me hold you, and I will try
How can I help you to say goodbye
I sat on our bed, he packed his suitcase
I held a picture of our wedding day
His hands were trembling, we both were crying
He kissed me gently, and then he quickly walked away
I called up Mama, she said, time will ease your pain
Life's about changing, nothing ever stays the same
And she said, how can I help you to say goodbye
It's okay to hurt, and it's okay to cry
Come let me hold you, and I will try
How can I help you to say goodbye
Sitting with Mama, alone in her bedroom
She opened her eyes, and then squeezed my hand
She said, I have to go now, my time here is over
And with her final words she tried to help me understand
Mama whispered softly, time will ease your pain
Life's about changing, nothing ever stays the same
And she said, how can I help you to say goodbye
It's okay to hurt, and it's okay to cry
Come let me hold you, and I will try
How can I help you to say goodbye |
